In Taiwan, most students have taken English classes for at least six years before they enter college. However, most of them remain insufficient in their ability to use the language. They have remarked that the dull materials used in most language classes are one of the reasons for their lack of motivation to learn. In recent years, to promote the learners’ mastery of language skills, language teachers have been eager to look for a variety of quality teaching materials and aids to be used in EFL classes to ensure that the students can gain optimum to learn. Many surveys conducted by language educators and scholars have revealed that films in video format can become an integral part of the curriculum because movies provide exposures to the real language used in authentic settings and the culture in which the foreign language is spoken. They also have found films that draw the learners’ interest can positively affect their motivation to learn (Sommer, 2001; Kusumarasdyati, 2004; Luo, 2004 ).
