On account of our experimental observations, it could be
concluded that medium term storage of onion seeds under
tropical and sub-tropical Indian conditions could be achieved
upon desiccation of seeds to 6 1% seed moisture, hermetically
sealed in moisture impervious containers and stored at
20–25 8C. Accelerated ageing procedure could be a good
indicator for understanding various metabolic changes associated
with seed deterioration, thus appropriate corrective
measures be chalked out to arrest or slow down the loss of seed
viability and vigour
