The development of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
(ABPM) and the rapidly growing popularity of home BP
measurements by patients have generated a series of new
clinical questions that are directly linked to the chronobiology
of the cardiovascular system (Hassler & Burnier 2005).
Recently, chronotherapy provides a means of individualising
treatment of hypertension according to the circadian BP
profile of each patient, constitutes a new option in optimising
BP control and reducing risk.
