The Trail Making Test (TMT) is one of the most frequently administered neuropsychological tests in clinical practice and research For many years, it has been used to assess individuals with brain injury with one of its earliest applications, as the Partington’s Pathways Test to evaluate cognitive deficits in individuals with narcotic addictions Its popularity derives from its ease of administration, brief administration time, and demonstrated sensitivity to brain dysfunction resulting from a variety of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including traumatic brain injury (TBI). Accordingly, it may be useful in screening for brain dysfunction to determine if more extensive neuropsychological evaluation is needed
