Kemme (2012) studies the equipment selection and layout
problem in relation by performing exhaustive numerical experiments
in analyzing four different configurations for RMGCs and
385 different layouts. Regression analyses are performed on simulation
results to rank equipment and to study the effect of stack
height and width in relation to the type of RMGC used. It is shown
that there is a relation between the configuration of the yard, the
type of equipment used and the resulting waiting times for transfer
vehicles responsible for the transport operations.
