receiving a higher salary, the couple decided it was time to make the move. The couple, despite their yearning for city life, had grown to like the presence of forests and hill- sides in their life. Rather than a big city, the Rowl- ings decided small would be better. Tutshill is a small village situated near Chep stow in the Forest of Dean. It was very much a city with streets, stores, and schools. But the river Wye ran by and there were fields all around, making it the ideal mixture of city and country. Joanne and Di quickly adjusted to their new surroundings. They would frolic for hours by the river and make up fantasy games to carry out in the fields. Joanne was outgoing and soon made friends in her neighborhood. When she felt comfortable enough, she would bring out some of her stories and read them to the neighborhood kids. While the other children did not quite know what to make of this little girl who used big words and told funny stories about fantastic places, they were im- pressed and gladly made room for a regular story time from Joanne. She would continue to enjoy playground activi-
