The measurement of the degree of interdependence can be approximated via the measurement of the flows (of people, goods, capital, information, etc.) that are interconnecting the actors or via direct measurements of correlations of variables (for example, symmetries in business cycles, interest rate spreads, etc.).
For the forms of interdependence that are more difficult to measure, like political interdependence,
indirect measurements should be considered. The patterns of voting behaviour in multilateral organisations might, for example, be a possible indicator of regional policy convergence/divergence
