A novel ferroelectric phase, BiAlO3 (BA) [14–17] has recently
attained increasing attention due to its excellent ferroelectric properties.
Experimental and theoretical studies have been carried out
on the structural analysis and preparation of BA thin films or bulk
ceramics. Theoretical calculations predict the BA crystal structure
to have a perovskite-like rhombohedral symmetry, a very large
spontaneous polarization and a high Curie temperature [16]. By
incorporating BA into KNNLS ceramics to form solid solutions, we
expect that this study will be helpful for promoting the practical
applications in electromechanical devices. In present work the
structure and various electrical properties of KNNLS–BA ceramics
as the effects of the BA content were investigated.
