2.3.3. Hydrophobic chromatography
A solution of polysaccharides (0.5 g in 10 mL water) was appliedto a Polychrome-1 column (Reakhim, Russia). The fraction of crudefucoidan (F) AmF was eluted with water, and the fraction of lam-inaran (L) AmL was eluted with 15% aqueous ethanol until thedisappearance in the eluent of a positive reaction for carbohydratesby the phenol-sulfuric acid method (Dubois et al., 1956). The cor-responding polysaccharide fractions were concentrated under avacuum and lyophilized. The yield of the laminaran fraction AmLwas 143 mg.
