Additional assumptions used in this study that influence
exposure assessment include:
. No further loss or decay of ETO between purchase
and consumption of the spices
. Spice imports represent spice consumption (i.e. the
amount of any imported processed food containing
spices treated with ETO was equivalent to
exported processed foods that may have used spices
treated with ETO)
. No locally grown spices are fumigated with ETO.
The spices surveyed, with the exception of chilli,
are not grown in New Zealand.
