Comparatively, the volumetric lactobionic acid productivity
in a whey/glycerol co-fermentation was 0.7 g/L h, which was
7.7-fold higher than the total organic acid productivity achieved
in a whey/glucose co-fermentation (0.09 g/L h). In terms of
bioconversion abilities per g cell biomass, co-supplied glycerol
displayed a maximum specific lactobionic acid productivity of
0.37 g/g h, which was 1.7-fold higher than the specific
gluconic acid productivity obtained in a whey/glucose batch
co-fermentation (0.23 g/g h).
