ABSTRACT: Multiple factors are critical to quality in dry roasted cashew nut processing plant which
needs to be studied very carefully to produce a quality product. FMEA is one of the most powerful quality
improvement technique used for risk evaluation from identified critical to quality factors in cashew nut
processing plant. An attempt was made for FMEA relevance in conjugation ISO 22000 for a cashewnut
processing plant. ISO 22000 made the system more flexible by incorporating the PrPs that reduces the
critical control points. In order to identify the occurring failure modes at the cashewnut processing plant,
precautionary risk assessment was performed. This study aims to increase the performance by using FMEA
at the cashewnut processing plant by conjugating it with ISO 22000. Critical control points were identified
and executed in the cause and effect diagrams. The main focus was put on the calculation of risk priority
number at different critical control points of the process. The steps with highest RPN include. Corrective
actions were then taken for these steps to take these critical control points within limits. The incorporation
of FMEA within ISO 22000 made the system more efficient and more beneficial.
