I sold the mouse as cat's meat to another merchant, for two handfuls of peas. I ground the peas and along with a pitcher of water, I went out of the city and sat under the shade of a big tree. Many tired wood-cutters passed by, carrying their wood to market. To each one, I politely offered a drink of cool water and a serving of peas. Every wood-cutter was thankful and gave me a couple of sticks of wood in payment.
