A perivitellin named
scalarin, with similar functions and structural features was isolated
from Pomacea scalaris, a related snail species [12]. PV2 is the other
major egg protein of P. canaliculata with an apparentMWof 400 kDa. It
is composed of two subunits of 67 kDa (Swiss-Prot accession no.
P0C8G6) and 31 kDa (Swiss-Prot accession no. P0C8G7). It is a very
high-density glycolipoprotein (VHDL) with 3.7% lipids and 2.5%
carbohydrates [6].
