I've been in a pretty bad bipolar depressive episode since August 4, 2013. Today I told my husband, whom I thought "understood" my depression, that I was feeling pretty low. (That's how I describe it when I'm having a particularly down day or period of time.)
He said to me, "Cheer up!" I know he meant well, but that fell short. I told him it wasn't that simple. Then he said, "Well, you'll be in my thoughts this afternoon." That at least comforted me a little.
What are some things that people say to you when you're depressed that lead you believe they've really never been there themselves?
