There was little more Balotelli could have done to score when he came on. However, like Raheem Sterling, he just couldn't beat a very good goalkeeper on the day. He got himself into great positions and worked hard for the team. He looked more comfortable with Sterling up front with him as part of a partnership and on another day both players might have been on the score sheet. In the continued absence of Daniel Sturridge, there are perhaps some signs for Rodgers that he has found a system that can rekindle some of the creativity that was the hallmark of last season.
