The benefits of RLG are unquestionable from the thermal point
of view. The green roof tends to experience lower surface
temperatures compared to an exposed roof surface, especially in
areas well covered by vegetation. To explore the thermal benefits,
a comparative measurement and an experiment were carried out.
Since the objective of this study was to highlight the benefits of RLG
in reducing roof temperatures in Thailand, a field measurement
was conducted to investigate the thermal impacts of RLG.
The objectives of this study were:
1. examine the effects of mass on energy transfer into the
building
2. examine the effects of lawn on energy transfer into the building
3. examine the effects of the grass type on energy transfer into the
building
4. examine the annual energy usage for different types of roofs
5. examine the effects of the roof type on roof temperature of the
building
