The purpose of this study was to determine whether enhancements of
bibliographic information in OPACs affect the information-seeking behavior of
end-users. The broad issue examined was whether bibliographic enhancements
alter the information seeking behavior of end-users; to that end, a set of broad
research questions were articulated. Will additional bibliographic information
affect subjects' perceptions of the usefulness of the books found in an OPAC? Do
any specific enhancements have a greater or lesser effect on end-user's perceptions
of the usefulness of books? In the context of this study, does the inclusion of a
table of contents and/or a book review change end-users' perception of a book
and, ultimately, their information seeking behavior?
