Cycle: Your billing cycle.

Purch. Power & Fuel Adj./kWh: Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA). Represents changes in wholesale power paid for by REMC.
Total Usage: The total amount of energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh) used during the billing period.
Line 2:
Meter No.: Your meter’s serial number.
Previous: The number that was read from your meter on the previous reading.
Present: The number that was read from your meter on this reading
From: The date on which this billing period began.
To: The date on which this billing period ended.
Days Billed: The total number of days between the beginning and end of the billing period.
Multiplier: A factor used to calculate billing determinants, such as kWh and kW.
Demand (kW): The largest demand for power during the month by the account. Primarily used for non-residential accounts.
Usage (kWh): The total energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh) used during the billing period. One kilowatt-hour is the equivalent of using 1,000 watts for one hour, or using a 100-watt light bulb for 10 hours.

BILLING SUMMARY
Past Due Amount: Amount of money that was not included in your previous payment that is still owed to the cooperative.
Current Charges: Amount of money you owe to the cooperative based on the electricity used during the billing period and other charges associated with receiving electric service.
Cutoff Date: Your electric service will be disconnected if payment is not received by this date.
Due Date: Your bill is due to the cooperative on this date. If payment is received after this date, a late fee will be added to the account.

Total Due: The total amount of money you must pay for this bill.

ITEMIZED SERVICES AND CHARGES
Meter Tampering
When people steal utility services, they endanger lives and take money out of your pocket. Randolph Electric Membership Corporation must recover losses due to theft by the rates paid by its honest customers. If you see or know of meter tampering or of an individual receiving benefit of stolen service, please call us at one of the above phone numbers. A list of information will be handled confidentially. Your cooperation can do more than keep rates down…it could save someone’s life. Meter tampering is a misdemeanor under North Carolina GS14.151 and is subject to penalty. This activity will also affect your member in good standing status.
Previous Balance: Amount owed on previous month’s bill.
Payment: Amount of money applied to your account for previous month’s bill.
Electric Charge: Includes Basic Facilities Charge of $15.80 plus amount of energy used this billing period.
WPCA Adjustment: Per kWh charge that represents the price fluctuation when purchasing electricity.
Purch. Power & Fuel Adj. x Total Usage = WPCA Adjustment.
EE Rate: Energy Efficiency Rate. Discounted rate for homes that meet specific energy efficiency criteria:
June – October 2% discount on all energy used
November – May 2% discount on first 1,000 kWh, 6% discount for each kWh over 1,000 kWh used
NC Renewable Energy Chg: A per account charge which represents money spent to meet state renewable energy and energy efficiency mandates.
Budget Billing: A program that spreads out the cost of energy over 11 months, based on the member’s energy use from the previous 12 months of service at the same location. On the twelfth month, REMC reviews your actual energy use and you either pay or receive a check for the difference, depending if you have over- or under-paid.
Security Light: Monthly charge for outside security light on premesis. Rate includes cost of light, wiring and electricity.
GenerLink: A system connecting a generator to your home that detects when the generator is operating and automatically disconnects from the utility grid.
Surge Supressors: Protection against spikes in electricity called voltage surges that can damage equipment and appliances inside your home. Several packages available.

People Helping People (PHP): A voluntary program in which members allow Randolph EMC to round up their electric bills to the next highest dollar each month. The funds generated are administered and allocated by a board of directors to members on our system who are in need. This program is not designed to pay electric bills, but help members in many other ways.
