The argument that cooperating teachers take
responsibility for coping with many behavioural
problems in student teachers lessons is, therefore, to
a great extent, based, on reality, but this is strongly
supported by the supervisors. Thus, the lack of
opportunity to deal with class management does not
stem from the absence of suitable class events
during the student teacher’s lesson, but rather from
the fact that the cooperating teacher expropriated
opportunities for the student teacher to deal with
behaviour problems with the encouragement of the
college supervisor.
