This detection method has the
advantage of being able to detect stationary bees, as well as
bees that are very close to each other, but frequently fails
when bees are in different orientations than the system was
trained to detect, such as crawling on the front of the hive. It is
possible to train multiple detectors for bees in different poses,
but the additional time to perform detections becomes
prohibitively expensive if real-time performance is desired.
Additionally, having multiple detectors increases the false
positive rate, as there are more opportunities for a false
detection to occur.
