Brazil’s Amazon rain forest has millions of different types of insects, plants, animals and birds which are exotic and rare. But nowadays the Amazon is quickly being destroyed by human which is a huge problem. So the expedition has come to define the borders and the rules of Tumucumaque, newly created national park.
The park is enormous – about 3.8 million hectares but there’s not enough staff to care for it and the area is too vast to regulate so the government have to join in to solve this problem.
A member of the Amazon Region Protected Areas program come from different organizations including Jawapuku Wayapi, a member of indigenous people has joined the team too.
The team has come to search for criminals such as illegal gold miners who may be harming this newly landscape. When they are going to explore the park they have to travel by waterway because the area surrounding the park is there are no roads which make this journey are a difficult journey.
The illegal mine will cause negatively affecting the habitats of plants and animals because they have to use mercury to extract the gold which can poison wildlife and create health risks for indigenous communities. So the team and indigenous people have to work together and patrol around the national park to protect this place from illegal events.
