Physical training, diet and blood pressure control
We identified 10 randomized trials in which the
influence of diet was compared with that of exercise
alone and/or with the combined effects of diet and
exercise in mostly overweight subjects.3 Two of
these studies did not include a nonexercise nondiet
control group, so that the results have not been
adjusted for control data in the meta-analysis. Study
duration ranged from 4 to 52 week (median¼38).
Table 3 summarizes the results for the paired
comparison of exercise and diet (11 study groups).
