13.2 Sample Preparation
All sample preparation and assaying was done at the Kupol lab. The mine established
sample prep and assay procedures for all samples submitted to the lab. During 2008,
reverse circulation (RC) and termite core (TMC) were the two sample types that were
added. Sample batch prefixes identify the sample type and a unique number identifies
the sample batch. Appendix 1 summarizes the, prefixes, sample prep, assay, and
storage requirements for each sample type. Sampling crews submit samples daily
accompanied by an electronic submittal file. After initial assaying, the lab moves
samples to temporary storage. Geology is responsible for long-term storage comprised
of shipping containers. Once samples exceed the required retention time they are
disposed of at the crusher stockpile on the low grade stockpile.
