What also becomes salient from these reflections is that destination leadership is different
from pure corporate and organizational leadership. This means that on the one hand
theories and ideas about leadership need to be scrutinized for their applicability to tourist
destination contexts that are integration points of corporate and networked systems, and
quite probably adapted to their particularities. On the other hand, the subtle difference
between the destination context and usual fields of application of leadership theories has the
potential to become a stimulus for advancing the overall leadership discourse.
