1.4 Significance of the study
Listening is the foundation of learning other subjects. It is seen that in every society the foundation of learning is listening because listening enables the student to conveniently learn new information. Listeners will be reading at any time, and listeners still have time to ponder, critically and compare the various things they listen. Listening and reading also improves your thinking skills.
1.5 Scope of the study
The samples used in the study of to third year EIC students and third year Engineering students totally 40 students at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Tak, student the period from September to December 2016.

English Homophone: Set of words with similar pronunciation often found in Thai contexts.
Homo: From the Greek word homos, meaning "same"
Phone: From the Greek word phone, meaning "sound" or "voice"
EIC: In a nut shell, English is our global lingua franca.
Evaluation: A systematic determination of a subject's, worth and significance, using criteria governed by a set of standards.
Listening ability: Listening is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages in the communication process.
