PPH free radical scavenging assay of methanol extract of the aquatic edible insects compared with standard ascorbic acid was analyzed and is presented in Figure 1. The IC50% of the insects ranged from 110 (C. tripunctatus) to 880 µg/mL (C. servilia). The species with lesser IC50% values had stronger antioxidant properties. Therefore, among the species, C. tripunctatus had the best antioxidant property. The IC50% of C. servilia was 880 µg/mL, which was comparatively higher than the other four species but is not a strong antioxidant property.
