Also, good efficiency of ethanol in degrading of plant cell wall promotes greater amount of endocellular material in the extract. The yields of crude extracts of young and mature fruit rinds of G. mangostana, along with the contents of total phenolic compounds, total flavonoids, total tannins, α-mangostin, free radical scavenging and antibacterial activities, are shown in Table 1. The young fruit rind extract contained much higher content of phenolic compounds (42.57±0.11 g GAE/100 g extract) than the mature fruit rind extract (28.88±0.73 g GAE/100 g extract). These results suggest the possible
