Business histories can also provide a substantial amount of detail about technical entrepreneurs, though they approach the subject matter from the perspective of the venture itself rather than the individual. Audrey Wood's (2001) Magnetic Venture: The Story of Oxford Instruments is a classic. It provides sufficient detail to analyse a range of factors that help to account for the success of this venture, ranging from personality to traits through to the technological context of the time. Other examples include a study of Hewlett-Packard (Packard, 1996) and Apple Computer (Levy, 1996).
