In this work, two different procedures for cellulose
extraction from sisal fibers were evaluated. By means
of TGA, FTIR, DSC and XRD, it was possible to
characterize the obtained cellulose and analyze the
presence of lignin and hemicellulose. No component
extraction could be ensured after TGA analysis. FTIR
spectra confirmed the removal of hemicelluloses and
lignin; these results were based on the characteristic
peaks of lignocellulosic materials. Furthermore, XRD
tests showed that the crystallinity was the same for all
the celluloses studied, confirming the previous
