Additionally, peer support and problem-solving group interventions have been shown to improve health out- comes for adolescents with type 1 diabetes. In a study by Løding et al, adolescents and their parents participated in peer discussions where they were given the opportunity to focus on education and problem-solving strategies to encourage adolescents to take more responsibility in diabetes management.36 In doing so, adolescents showed increases in satisfaction and the ability to communicate more calmly with their parents. Adolescents also reported fewer objections to measuring their glucose values and injecting insulin in public after the intervention.36
