There is an importance of leaming communication and meaning in language. Yet the use of notins such as communication and meaning as the basic criteria for instruction,experiences,and materials in classrooms may misguide a child in several respects. Communication in the classroom is vital. The teacher should use communication to help students develop the capacity to make their private responses become public responses. Otherwise, one's use of languge would be in danger of being what the younger generation refers to as mere words, mere thoughts,and mere feelings.
