Notwithstanding many argued that „agriculture-industry‟ linkage is no longer exist and that the share of agriculture in the economy's gross domestic product has declined; it need not necessarily imply that the sector has no meaningful implication for India's economic growth and industrialization. Even now, agriculture sector accounts for approximately one-fifth of national income and supports more than 52 percent of the population in the country. Though the „agriculture-industry‟ linkage has been deteriorating over the years, it still plays important role in determining the overall growth of the economy.
