Desorption experiments
Recovery of Cd (II) from the metal-loading biomass was carried
out using desorbant agents such as 0.1 M HCl in a batch system to
adjust the pH value to 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0, for 2 h, at 30 8C. The biomass was separated from eluent solution by centrifugation
(7000 rpm, 10 min, at 4 8C) and concentration of the Cd (II)
released into the eluent solution was determined. The treated
biomass was washed with distilled water and then applied in
another sorption cycle. The sorption–desorption experiments were
performed in thrice. The efficiency of adsorption and desorption
was determined according to the following equation
