In recent times, activity theory (AT) has increasingly attracted the attention of
scientists and practitioners in various countries. Numerous articles and books
in the field in English, published in the West including the United States, are
based primarily on the works of the Russian scholars Vygotsky and Leont’ev.
However, these publications do not reflect any important data from the applied
activity theory (AAT). Furthermore, a majority of the scientists from the former
Soviet Union who have contributed to this field are unknown in the West.
