A sleepless summer night, which i experienced last summer, stands vivid in my memory. It was the month of august. The days and nights were so unusually hot that there was not a breath of air anywhere. I felt no relief. It was an agony to lie on bed. I kept on turning sides, but i had not a wink of sleep. I could not close my eyes even for a minute. Sometimes, i lay on my right side and then changed on my left. Now i pulled out my arms; now i stretched my legs; now i yawned; now i opened my eyes; now i pretended to sleep; now i scratched my head; now i rubbed my heels; but sleep would not come. I was in for a sleepless night.
