What do we do?"
"Labor could last up to days. I say we let the people finish up in the cafe. We go home and relax for a bit."
Kenny smiled and said, "Okay sounds good as long as you are okay with that plan."
He nodded and they waited for the remaining costumers to leave.
Connor experienced his second contraction as they drove home.
"Breath babe. he-he-hoo."
Connor followed the rhythmic breathing and said when it was over, "I have a feeling this isn't going to be easy."
"We won't know until we are there." Kenny said kissing Connor's knuckles.
---
Around 10 Connor was dealing with a contraction in the kitchen. He said as he gripped the chair, "Oh dear lord!"
Kenny rubbed his back and hushed him. The shorter wrapped his arms around his lover's neck. They swayed.
"Better?"
"Yeah."
Connors clothes were sticking on to him because of the sweating of hard labor.
They rested forehead against forehead when Kenny felt his feet wet.
"Babe did you just pee or..." He said looking into panicking eyes.
"Or my water just broke."
"Okay okay. No need to panic. Let's get you cleaned up and take you to the hospital okay?"
Connor whimpered.
"Sweetie don't cry! Everything will be just fine."
"I'm so scared Ken."
"You don't have to be because I am here. We are going to go through this together."
Connor cleaned up with Kenny's help and they made their way to the hospital.
----
Four hours had passed and Connor lays on his side as Kenny rubs his contracting belly.
"Okay Connor after your contraction we will look to see if you are ready to have this baby."
He moves so he can be examined.
"Deep breath." Dr. Jacoby said as he checked the birth canal. "Looks like we can start pushing. Let's get everything ready before you start pushing."
The doctor walked out and Kenny kissed Connor's sweaty warm forehead. "You ready to meet our baby?"
"You actually claim this baby?" Connor said strained and happy.
"I was hoping to claim you as well." Kenny said pulling out a sliver diamond studded ring from his pocket.
"Oh god." he said suffering from shock and a contraction.
"I know this sudden, it's only been 3 and a half months... but I-I love you Connor Harris. Will accept my offer?"
He teared from either joy or pain, "Yes!"
Kenny slipped the ring on his finger and Connor pulled him into a kiss and said, "I love you too."
"Okay ready guys?" Dr. Jacoby said walking in with two other nurses.
"Yes. We are." Kenny looked down at his fiancee, kissing his forehead.
"Okay next contraction push up to ten. Ready go."
He bore down letting out a yelp. "God! This kid is already grounded!"
Kenny says as the push ended, "Just breathe babe. Think of the baby only."
He nodded breathing and then pushes.
"Okay guys, it's crowning." He said almost excited.
"Can you check?"
"Oh Connor! It has your hair!" Kenny said with a cracking voice, looking at the bronze locks.
"And push." The doctor counted down.
Connor yelped again.
"Okay I have the head, take a deep breath, I need to check for the cord." Connor moaned in pain, "Okay we are a go, pant so we can get these shoulders out."
Kenny pushed his drenched hair back, then kissed his forehead. "You are doing so great."
Three pushes later they heard a noise that could stop time. The crying of their baby.
"Here he is! A beautiful bouncing boy!" Jacoby said placing the baby on Connor's chest.
"A boy." The new dad said to his new son. "You are so beautiful my little Charlie Oliver Maeve."
"Y-you gave him my middle and last name?"
"He is your son isn't he?" Connor said with a sly smile as they took him to clean him up.
He chuckled and the said softly, "You made me a dad. I love you so much."
"I love you too, forever and always."
----
6 years have passed and a hyper Charlie is chasing his 4 year old sister, Amelia, around the living room.
Connor watches from the kitchen as he cooks dinner for his family. There were foot steps that came from behind him. Then a kiss on his neck.
"Why must you prove you can do much at this point." Kenny said placing his hands on the taut 9 month belly that was attached to his husband of 5 years.
"Well Kenneth, my family must eat and so must Turner... speaking of him. You picked a middle name?"
"Yes, Javoris... it means loved."
"Hmm... Turner Javoris Maeve. I like it. Ow... so does this one." Connor said holding his side as Turner kicked at his side.
"Hey T.J. don't be mean to daddy."
"Daddy! Dad!" said two little voices.
"What's up my beautiful babies?"
"Hungry!" Amelia said smiling bright looking like Kenny more and more everyday.
"Me too!" Charlie said, he was big already. Thankfully he looks more like Connor, only having hazel eyes from his biological father. As soon as Connor and Ken married, Kenny had fully adopted his son.
"You guys are?" Kenny said smiling.
"Yes!" They said again.
"Good! I am finished, go wash up and sit down."
They ran off to do just that. Kenny help set up the table, then they sat down exchanging stories when Connor looked towards the entrance.
He saw the old wooden handle of the large purple umbrella that give him the perfect life he thought he'd never had.
