No P. xylostella larvae were found on the island where the light trap was located. Thus, the trapped P. xylostella moths must have been migrants, and our results of nightly catches of this species provided strong evidence that both male and female P. xylostella undertake regular long-distance migration over the sea, which was similar to the previous observations of other insects in the orders Lepidoptera, Odonata and Coleopteramade at the same location
