WACO : TEXAS :FOR the last 150 years, student at the conservative Baylor University in the Texas town of Waco have not been allowed to dance. Now for the first time they can.
The university has 12,000 students. It was founded by three southern Baptist preachers in 1845. It is soon going to have its first dance on campus.
In the past, students who wished to dance had to leave the university campus.
Earlier this century , students were not even allowed to say the word “dance” .
Baptist dislike dancing because people who dance often drink alcohol.
When Dr. Robert Sloan, a Baptist preacher became the university' s president last june, he decided to change the old fashioned anti-dancing rule.
