A good instructional program must provide for continuity of learning experiences. Students should progress through a particular program on the basis of their achievement, not on the basis of how much time they have spent in the program.
Instructional programs in school that are planned over several years lend themselves to better vertical progress. Continuity of learning experiences within a program dictates that a relationship between discliplines be established.
Core or interdisciplinary programs allow students to see purpose and meaning in their total instructional program.
