Procedures
Patients were recruited from among the candidates for pulmo¬
nary rehabilitation programs from the University of California,
Davis, and the University Hospital Groningen, the Netherlands.
Pulmonary function tests and questionnaires to determine di¬
mensions of fatigue, depression, and quality of life were com¬
pleted by each patient prior to participation in the rehabilitation
programs. Directions for accurate completion of the question¬
naires were provided each patient. Patients were given the
opportunity to seek clarification and feedback from the investi¬
gators of questionnaire directions as needed. Otherwise, ques¬
tionnaires were completed by the patients independently. The
6-min distance walk (6MD) was carried out in 19 of the enrolled
patients.
