Secondly, we did not consider any add-ondrug cost in the analysis, and we made the assumption that the
add-on drug costs were similar in both treatment groups.
At the end of the study, the add-on drugs in both the treatment group participants were similar:the number of participants on monotherapy in the ACEI group was 65% and in the diuretic group was 67%, whereas 6% in the ACEI group and 5% in the diuretic group were on 3 or more antihypertensive agents.
