GC analysis was also applied to quantify arabinoxylans
(AX) but an acid treatment was used for AX hydrolysis
(Courtin et al., 2000). Sucrose, raffinose and fructan concentrations
were assessed with high performance anion exchange chromatography
with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAEC-PAD).
Sugars were extracted with hot water (80 C, 1 h) and hydrolyzed
under mild acid conditions prior to HPAEC-PAD analysis to quantify
fructans (Verspreet et al., 2012)
