All of the supporting cast of players on the bride’s side can be seen in this wedding album photograph. The bride’s mother is on the far side of the group, made up of the bridesmaids and the young ring bearer, who is holding the cushion on which the rings will be placed during the ceremony. This group has been purposely rendered just slightly out focus by the photographer’s choice of a large aperture, which was also necessary because the only illumination for this shot was natural daylight entering the room through the window. The bride is the only sharply rendered element in the picture. This helps to imply that although she is part of the proceedings ad the activity, she is also feeling slightly apart from it- an aloofness that is reinforced by her veil being down. Perhaps she is taking this last opportunity to calm her nerves before leaving for the ceremony.
