3. Emergency Response During Transportation
Purpose
The purpose of Emergency Response is to reduce or minimize the risk in the event of an
unexpected event (example accident, incident or any chemical spillage) during
transportation.
In the event of emergency, the truck operator shall carry the following action:
• Pull the truck to safety and evaluate the severity of the emergency (if possible).
• Utilize the spillage kit, crash kit, fire extinguisher and first aid kit (whichever necessary).
• Seek help if necessary from relevant party (example public, highway authority or police)
• Place the safety triangle to a reasonable distance to inform other road users.
• Once the situation is under control, truck operator to inform person in charge.
• Take note of other vehicle’s registration number if multiple vehicles are involved in the
accident.
• Finds ways to go to the nearest Police Station to make a police report.
• Wait for arrival of assistance (if required) for an accident/incident investigation.
• Take photographs of the event.
• Check goods, for any damages occurred.
• Seek medical assistance if required, otherwise stay calm.
• Wait for technical assistance/tow truck if required.
• Once the emergency state is over, continue driving to planned destination.
