Most people like ice cream. The Chinese made a dessert which was Match similar to ice cream about 2,000 years ago. They ed small pieces of ice with the approp milk, honey and fruit. Marco Polo, the Italian explorer, took the idea back to under Italy, about 700 years ago. For a long time only rich Europeans are ice cream, 5 but after 0, anybody could eat it in cafes. This was real ice cream, the same as we eat today. Instead of mixing ice and milk, Europeans froze milk and honey in a box by putting big pieces of ice around the outside of the box. People had to stir the ice cream all the time, which was very hard work. Now machines do this easily. American children have a special rhyme about ice cream: "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Its cold, sweet taste is popular everywhere.
