This case study represents an example of using the developed ontology as a database for the Middle of Life (MOL) of passenger vehicles, the data of which can be later used as input to support decision support for agents in both the Beginning of Life (BOL) and the End of Life (EOL). The specific dictionary (describing which values and parts need to be tracked through MOL) for the case study has been developed after combining requirements of application scenarios dealing with MOL and EOL cases in an Italian automotive industry [24]. In this case a part of the data stored in the model are to be used as input to a Decision Support System (DSS) for all PLM phases: in BOL for improving design and production, in MOL for improving maintenance and in EOL for supporting dismantling, recycling, remanufacturing, reuse and disposal. The steps followed are: populate the ontology model with instances, extend the model according to requirements, provide guidelines for sorting data according to requirements to the extended model while supporting data integration
