He said many small reservoirs were located in risk areas. They could be easily damaged by earthquakes or even heavy rains.
"Our main concern is that those small reservoirs have never had their safety aspects questioned before," he said. "If they get damaged [due to seismic activity] we have less than 20 minutes to warn the public [to flee]," he said.
Mr Suttisak issued his warning yesterday at a seminar titled "How will Thai people deal with natural disasters?" held by the Natural Resource and Environment Ministry's Department of Mineral Resources."
