In one study it was found sharing the vision, that is making certain that all levels of the organization and involved are communicated with, is critical. The fact of the matter is that McDonal’s employee flipping burger and waiting on customer is the one who will ultimately carry out the vision, not owner Joan Kroc and her management team at McDonal’s Corporate Headquarters. One example of how a shared vision can impact an organizations would be the vision of Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Computer, who galvanized his whole organizations into revolutionizing the way people processed information by sharing the dream that personal computing and what they were doing could changes the world. Developing a shared vision involves several stages, as shown in Figure 15.2.
