length,vitaminCcontent,antioxidantsandvisualandolfactoryqualityweredeterminedafter
irradiation.Resultsindicatedthattherewasnosignificantdifferenceinthegerminationrateand
sprouts lengthbetweenthecontroland0.3kGytreatedsoybeans,however,thereductionsinsprouts
length ofthe1.0kGyand3.0kGytreatedsampleswerequitesignificantwithreductionsof20.4%and
58.8%, respectively.Irradiatedsproutshadsimilarvisualandolfactoryqualityasthenon-irradiated
one. Therefore,irradiationofseedsalonewouldhavelimitedvalueintermsofcommercialusedueto
reduced germinationandlengthofsprouts.However,irradiationofsproutsatdosesupto3.0kGywas
feasible toenhancemicrobialsafetyofsprouts.
